MFA in Writing
What began as a commission for a poster announcing a set of readings and performances became a conversational exercise between writing and printing.
This project began with the design of a poster which announced a first set of readings hosted by this fledgling academic program, titled “Now Before and After is not Enough”. The poster was unexpectedly written upon by students of the program — it became a new surface for their collective writing. The written-upon poster was mailed back to us in a convivial provocation. We proceeded to print the annotated poster on our risograph in a multi-page small format booklet. Printing one-sided, the mechanics of the printing naturally resulted in new empty spaces within the reproduction. We sent the multiples back to Pratt. The publications were further inscribed by students , thus extending the chain of our production-mediated conversation.
