March 28 – March 29, 2016

Jack Henrie Fisher will lead workshops on experimental models for occasional academic publishing at the School of Architecture, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The workshops are conducted as part of the launch of a new visual identity for the School, developed by Other Forms.

The visual identity is centered on a new typeface, which marks non-Hawaiʻian letters in the English alphabet by a set of rotated lines. The letterforms make visible the linguistic transformations of the historical occupation and post-colonial environment of Hawaiʻi. The workshops aim to open questions about how an institutional identity can be expanded beyond its visual aspect, to include platforms for speech, production, and sociality.
